School Resources to Loan

We have extensive resources to loan to schools within North Yorkshire and York as shown below. There are several banks of resources in the region and if you wish to borrow any of the items please initially contact Harrogate Borough Council on 01423 556909.

	Eco-House Model (KS1 – KS4) A large 3D model of a two storey house (approx 1m3) showing how it could be environmentally friendly. Children enjoy looking at the different rooms and there is an exercise to identify the 20 plus improvements.
	Windfarm Role Play Game (KS2 – KS4) Based loosely on real life events, the children assume different roles in a debate to decide whether to have a windfarm in North Yorkshire.
	Insulation Kit (KS2 – KS4) Examples of different insulation materials and exercises to explore their properties.
	Energy Bike (KS1 – KS4) This exercise bike has been converted to generate electricity to power a set of efficient and not-so-efficient light bulbs. It is an energetic way to vividly show which light bulbs use higher levels of energy.
	Climate Action Programmes Boxes (KS1 – KS2) The box contains hard copies of all the six Climate Action Programme lesson plans and teachers’ notes, along with laminated fact cards, small props, a greenhouse effect experiment kit and card games.
	Electric Monitoring Kit (KS2 – KS4) Any electrical appliance can be plugged into these monitors to show exactly how many units of electricity it is using, how much it costs to run, and how much carbon dioxide is being released as a result.
	Solar Cars (KS1 – KS4) These model cars are a fantastic way to show how sunlight can be used to power electrically driven items.
	Mini-Renewable Models (KS2 – KS3) These provide an excellent scaled-down demonstration of renewable energy. They are easy to set up and use and are hardwearing.
