Tenancy Issues
We deal with a wide range of issues relating to all aspects of a Council tenancy.
As well as officers collecting rents and other payments, managing rent arrears and dealing with breaches of the tenancy agreement, local estate staff can also help and advise on a number of other issues including:
- Moving homes
- Tenancy support
- Alterations/improvements to Council property (including external alterations)
- Adaptations for persons with disabilities
- Assigning Council tenancies
- Succeeding deceased tenants on their death
- Getting involved with local tenant and resident groups
Welcome Box for New Tenants
We are now issuing all our new tenants with a Welcome Box containing a few essential items such as toilet rolls, energy efficient lightbulbs, bin bags, anti bacterial wipes, a meter key, pen, note pad and a dustpan and brush along with a booklet providing a whole range of information and useful phone numbers.
The Box was put together after talking to our new tenants who made suggestions about the kind of things they would have found useful when they moved in (some of them into their first ever home).
The production and distribution has been supported by our Repairs & Maintenance contractor, Connaught Ltd and RSA (Royal Sun & Alliance) who provide a contents insurance scheme designed specifically for Harrogate Borough Council tenants.

Housing Offices
There are three Neighbourhood Housing Offices spread around the Borough. You can pay your Council Housing rent and Council tax (only when cash offices are open) at any one of the offices.
You can purchase garden refuse sacks (only when the cash offices are open) and get advice on a whole range of Council housing related services.
