Apply For Sole Resident Discount
If you are the only person, over the age of 18 years, who is mainly resident in a property you are entitled to a discount of 25%.
If, however, you have become the sole resident because someone else has left the property you will only qualify for a discount if it is clear that the other person has changed their main place of residence.
Where a spouse leaves a property, for example, to take up employment elsewhere, it is normal policy to consider that his/her main place of residence is still the marital home, irrespective of lengths of time or frequency of periods spent away from that home.
If the person who has vacated is your spouse, or if there may be any question regarding entitlement under other circumstances, it would assist your application if you were to provide written details regarding the circumstances of your move.
