BAFTERS Awards
The BAFTERS are the Harrogate District's environmental awards for schools and community groups.
The winners of the 2009 Awards were announced at the Awards Ceremony on Thursday 9th July 2009 at the Royal Hall in Harrogate.
The winners were:
Best School - Killinghall CE Primary School
Best Community Group - Horticap
Adult Environmental Champion - Terry Knowles
Young Person Environmental Champion - Harry Beasley
Green Grounds Award - Richard Taylor CE Primary School
Protecting Nature Award - Rotary Club of Harrogate
Schools Energy Action Award (sponsored by Ice Energy) - Kell Bank CE Primary School
Communities Energy Action Award (sponsored by Ice Energy) - Harrogate Sustrans Rangers
Schools Waste Minimisation Award - Aspin Park Community Primary School
Communities Waste Minimisation Award - Rotary Club of Harrogate
Spreading the Word Award - Harrogate Sustrans Rangers

The BAFTERS Awards
The BAFTERS Awards are a biennial environmental awards scheme, open to all schools, and community groups in the Harrogate District.
The awards also recognise the contribution of one young person and one adult, who are named Environmental Champions.
The awards are a great way to share good ideas, get recognition for hard work, and celebrate environmental action in this district.

case studies, showcasing previous nominees' best environmental action are online. Take a look and see what you can do too.
All BAFTERS entrants have the chance to walk the red carpet at the prestigious Awards Ceremony held in July.
A big feature of the event is the interactive Envirozone for children, which features all sorts of exciting and unusual activities.
Many businesses have entered the BAFTERS in previous years. In 2009 the business category was removed and we now recommend local businesses to enter the
Ackrill Media Group Business Awards Green Business category.
