Cllr. Trevor Chapman |
I am a Councillor for New Park Ward, and was first elected in May 2004. I have been re-elected to serve until May 2015. I have been a resident in the ward since 1970 and have two married children, who were both pupils of New Park School.
I enjoy my role as a councillor and have been active in dealing with ward issues since I was elected. In the last seven years I have handled over 200 cases that were raised with me by residents. |
My Memberships
I am a member of the Planning, Licensing and District Development Committees. I also serve on the Voluntary and Community Sector Forum Working Group and the Council's Tenants' Forum.
Members can also represent the Council on various outside bodies and the ones I am involved with are Harrogate District Sports Council, Harrogate & District Housing Forum and the North Yorkshire County Council's Area Committee for Harrogate District.
Outside the Council, I have been a governor for New Park School since September 2005 and am a life member of Bilton Cricket Club. I am also the Liberal Democrat Shadow Spokesperson for Housing.

My Recent Involvements
A major issue that has concerned me has been the decision by County Councillors to make the B6161 in Killinghall subject to a permanent 7.5 ton lorry ban. This has resulted in over 300 vehicles a day in each direction head towards New Park roundabout.
I have consistently opposed this ban from the outset. It is ridiculous to pretend that this ban solves anybody's traffic problems - it merely moves it from one area to another.
