45th Annual Allotment Show
Live music, kids' activities, competitions and of course lots of organic produce means that this year's annual Allotment Show is sure to be as successful as ever.
The event, which will take place between 11.30 am and 4.30 pm, at the Sun Pavilion, Valley Gardens, Harrogate on Sunday, 21st August 2005 is being jointly organised by the Harrogate and District Allotments and Gardens Federation and Harrogate Borough Council and will be sponsored once again by 'BUPA Care Homes', who have two homes in Harrogate - Southlands and The Crest.
This year is the 45th Show and is set to the biggest yet with many of the district's allotment holders attending to show off the fruits of their labours.
This Show is a chance for them to demonstrate the pleasures of having an allotment and perhaps to attract some new allotment holders. There will be a
Gardener's Question Time and numerous stalls selling herbs, plants, flowers, bulbs and seeds, competitions, watering cans (donated by Yorkshire Water) and organic gardening produce.
There will be home baking and preserves on sale as well as a raffle and tombola with some great prizes.
Harrogate Borough Council's Environment team will be running an 'Environmental Corner' and Yorkshire Water will be holding a 'win a waterbutt' competition, whilst providing information on water conservation.
With live music from the BUPA Dixieland Jazz Quartet, afternoon teas on the Sun Pavilion's terraces kindly donated by Taylors of Harrogate, and plenty for children including face painting and the chance to be creative and win a prize by decorating watering cans and making animals out of vegetables, it's a day you can't afford to miss especially as the exhibits will be auctioned off at the end of the show!
Although entrance to the show is free, the organisers are raising funds for the Springwater School Sensory Garden and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, so please come along and give your support.
