Heritage Open Days 2005

the nation opens its doors to places which people might simply not know about or other places where they normally aren't allowed entrance, Harrogate Borough Council is offering free entry to one of its most famous heritage sites Knaresborough Castle and Courtyard Museum as part of the Heritage Open Days 2005.
There will be no charge for visitors the Castle and Museum on Saturday and Sunday 10 and 11 September.
Tours have also been arranged on 8 and 9 September at Harrogate's Stonefall Crematorium and grounds.
These tours will take in the quiet and beautiful gardens of remembrance, the art displays, the peaceful and Romanesque Columbarium where four new marble seat benches have been provided and are available for dedication, the Hebrew Cemetery and the War Graves Commission Cemetery where 1000 Canadian, New Zealand and Australian airmen are buried.
The tours will take place between 9.00am and 4.00pm and visitors are asked to call at the Stonefall Office on arrival.
The Friends of Pateley Bridge Cemetery Group are also inviting visitors to
St Mary's Churchyard in Pateley Bridge on 10 and 11 September where they will offer escorted tours around the church ruins and tower, which is normally inaccessible to the public.
Tours will take place between 10.00 am and
4.00pm.
