Henry was the husband of Mrs. R.E. Boyes of Robert Street, Harrogate. He also had children, though it is not known how many.
He had worked for Harrogate Corporation, for 16 years before joining the Army in November 1916. For the last 9 years of his time with the Corporation, he worked as a horse keeper in the Highways Dept.
Henry was wounded by shrapnel in the back and was brought back to England. He died in hospital in Leith, in Scotland, and his body was returned to Harrogate, to be buried with full military honours.
