Commercial Waste and Recycling
Are you disposing of your waste correctly?
We all produce waste.
In our homes our rubbish and recycling is taken away regularly by the Council's refuse teams.
On the streets our waste is collected by the street cleansing team.
But what happens to the rubbish we produce at work?
Unlike your domestic refuse, businesses
have to pay to have their wastetaken away.
It is
not included in your business rates.
This means that you can't leave your rubbish in black sacks, to be collected by our domestic collectors.
This is breaking the law.
What you need to do...
If you produce a small amount of waste, then it is cost effective to use trade waste sacks.
All waste contractors use the same colour, blue, but all contractors charge different prices.
It is best to shop around.
If you produce a large amount of waste that requires a bin or container, then you need to contact a waste contractor who can supply you with a container.
Once again it is a good idea to enquire with a number of companies.
Services provided by the Council
The Council povides both a sack and container service to trade customers at competitive rates.
Blue trade waste sacks hold up to 60 litres of waste. Bin sizes range from 240 litres to 1,280 litres.
New customers may be offerered a site visit by a member of the technical team to help work out your requirements for waste collection. The size of container and frequency of collections will also be discussed .
For further information, if you have a query concerning your current arrangements with the Council or you wish to enquire about a special collection, please telephone 0845 300 6091.
