The memorial plaque includes a "T.H. Stephenson", but no-one with those initials, with any link to Harrogate, can be traced in the official casualty listings. The most likely candidate is Thomas Frederick Stephenson, who was the son of Thomas & Alice Stephenson, of Harrogate.
Thomas was killed, aged 19, during the fierce fighting in Italy, which Churchill described as the "soft underbelly of Europe" and which became known to the soldiers fighting there as "the tough old gut".
