Harrogate Landlords' Trade Fair
2011 Landlords' Trade Fair
The Council in partnership with the National Landlords' Association held its third trade fair recently in Harrogate. The event had many exhibitors along with workshop sessions. It was pleasing to see that our landlords and letting agents continue to give their support to the event and it was also encouraging to see landlords from outside our immediate district in attendance.
Health and Safety Executive Information
The Health and Safety Executive has issued a gas safety alert to raise awareness of the potential danger of some flues located on internal walls connected to gas boilers. The risk comes from a particular kind of flue system for gas boilers, which have been most commonly installed in multi-storey apartment blocks, built since 2000. Older properties that have recently been renovated or modernised may also have gas boilers located away from an external wall with the flue running through the ceiling void or other enclosure.
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has produced a new one stop shop gas safety website for landlords. (Opens in a new window)

Gas Safe Register
All existing CORGI registered contractors must now register to the new gas safe register www.gassaferegister.co.uk. The register is run by CAPITA and overseen by the Health and Safety Executive. Contractors will not be able to carry out gas safety work unless they are registered on the Gas Safety Register.
