This Friday night sees the launch of a Christmas safety campaign in Harrogate.
The Harrogate District Safer Communities Partnership is raising awareness of the 'know your limit' campaign fully supported by the Harrogate Pubwatch.
The campaign, which is being rolled out nationally, aims to reduce levels of violent crime in the town centre, especially during the peak hours of drinking.
It also aims to reduce the number of admissions to accident and emergency that are alcohol related.
Chairman of the Safer Communities Partnership, Councillor Les Ellington, said: "This campaign aims to improve people's general behaviour and reduce the incidence of disorder, so that everyone can enjoy a safe night out.
"Know your limits is focusing on people who enjoy the night time economy, not only raising awareness of how to enjoy a safe night out, but raising awareness of the units of alcohol in drinks.
Plus, reminding people not to drink and drive, but ensure that they have a designated driver, or get a taxi."
However, the partnership's, message is not a bah humbug attitude, the aim is that they want people to enjoy themselves but to do so in a safe manner especially during the festive season.
Events over the next few weeks to promote the campaign will also include a Crash Car, a Fire and Rescue Service led initiative to highlight the dangers of drink driving this will be on display in Ripon at Sainsbury's car park on
8 December, Boroughbridge, Morrison's car park on 15 December and Harrogate, venue to be confirmed on 22 December.
