7 MAY 2008:
PROPOSALS for a skate park in Harrogate continue to be explored as Harrogate Borough Council once again looks at all the sites it has previously investigated.
This undertaking was made at a public meeting held in March as part of the consultation process on a possible location at Stonefall Park, off Wetherby Road.
There is some local opposition to this proposal and the council promised to consider again previous suggested sites as well as any new ones.
These sites are now out for public comment.
Councillor Pat Jones, Cabinet Member for Cultural Services, added:
"We have investigated a number of outdoor sites over the years and have included them all again.
But, for clarity, I should add that some of them would have to be discounted.
A section of Claro Road Allotments for instance was an area that was not used when we first considered it but now it has been brought into allotment use and has contracted tenants on it."
The council is inviting everyone to comment and the results of the consultation will be reported to the council's Cabinet in July.
The full consultation is available at www.harrogate.gov.uk/harrogate-5349.
Hard copies of the questionnaire are available from Vanessa Peers on 01423 556733.
Comments can be made either on line or by posting to Harrogate Borough Council, Department of Community Services, Brandreth House, St Lukes Avenue, Harrogate, HG1 2AA.
Closing date for comments is Friday
13 July 2008.
