Applications requested to Starbeck Community Grant Fund Autumn 2008

- Twice a year, groups and societies based in Starbeck near Harrogate are invited to apply for grants from the Starbeck Community fund, which was created with a gift of £300,000 following the development of the former Octavius Atkinson site by Taylor Woodrow.
The fund is also available to individual Starbeck residents.
The autumn round is now open and applications can be made until 3 October. Groups are invited to apply for up to £2,000 and individuals are invited to apply for up to £200. This grant scheme is for projects and individuals in the Starbeck Ward.
The panel is looking for ideas for increasing access to voluntary clubs or improving people's quality of life.
They also want to hear from groups who may need some new equipment that will allow more people to take part in activities.

The summer round of Starbeck Community Fund grants saw six grants awarded to Starbeck groups in with a total value of £5,789. One group who received an award were the 2
nd Starbeck Brownies who were awarded £150 towards new arts and craft equipment and materials and storage boxes.
NOTE TO EDITORS:
The development of the former Octavius Atkinson site by Taylor Woodrow, led to the provision of £300,000 gift for the 'purpose of creation or improvement of recreation / community facilities in Starbeck'. Part of the interest on the lump sum is paid into this grant scheme and awards are made twice a year by a rotating Starbeck Community Panel comprising three members of the Starbeck Residents' Association and one Borough Councillor.
