Reaching the community - Fit 4 Fun Activity Rangers Project

Harrogate Borough Council’s new Fit 4 Fun initiative is a four-year project funded through the Big Lottery reaching communities’ programme. This new initiative will encourage less physically active community members to improve their health, physical activity level and confidence through free activities and training around the district.

During the four years (2011-2015) the project will target people from isolated rural areas to participate in regular physical activity, benefiting their wellbeing and encouraging community cohesion. The project will also add value to the lives of migrant settlers by encouraging them to engage with key services and other community members to feel safer and less isolated in their surrounding community. By the end of the project people with disabilities and from the older generation will feel less socially isolated and report better community relations, through access to the Fit 4 Fun activity ranger project.

The team will work across all life stages to encourage people to become more active outdoors and offer free health and fitness activities within parks, community settings and open spaces across the district.

For more information or to become involved in the Fit 4 Fun initiative please contact the Activity Rangers on 07525988160 or 07525988209 or email our Senior Activity Ranger Natalie Smith on Natalie.smith@harrogate.gov.uk
