Training for the Business, Voluntary and Creative Industries Sector
Renaissance Knaresborough delivered this training project in partnership with HBC Regeneration, Maple Training, Harrogate and Ripon Councils for Voluntary Services, Nidderdale Plus, and Yore Vision.
The aim was to run a series of training courses between March 2008 and March 2009 covering Knaresborough, Boroughbridge Pateley Bridge, Masham and Ripon to support and enhance the visitor and cultural offer across these five market towns in Harrogate District and to encourage extended or repeat visits.
Following various discussions with key stakeholders and training providers the following training / skills support was provided:
Welcome To Excellence -
a series of courses for businesses and employees from this nationally recognised programmeon different elements of customer care. An all day conference named 'Bolstering, Benefitting and Boosting your Business'
was also held in February 2009. This offered guidance and assistance to businesses with keynote speaker,
Janet Street Porter.
Voluntary and community sector training - in early 2009 both Harrogate and Ripon CVS led on further researching the training needs of the community voluntary sector in Knaresborough and Boroughbridge. Five training sessions were held and were promoted to the other three market towns within the Harrogate District.
These training sessions included: Traffic Management; Events Management; Gardening and Design for Public Open Spaces; plus training specifically for Henshaws Arts Centre.
Creative industries sector training -
In early 2009 Nidderdale Plus led on putting together a package of training sessions relevant toanyone working in the creative industries, commercially or with a voluntary or community group.Topics included marketing tips and techniques, IT skills for improved publicity, joint working: partnerships and projects, and tips on managing successful events.
All sessions received very good feedback.
