Gambling Licenses

Licences/permits that are issued by us include:

• Premises licence  - for the premises to provide gambling activities.
• Unlicensed family entertainment centres - includes small arcades in holiday parks.
• Club gaming and club machines - members' clubs and miners' welfare institutes with up to three gaming machines.
• Licensed premises gaming machines - Pubs, restaurants or hotels (licenced for alcohol).
• Prize gaming permits - for a non-gambling premises to have prize gambling with low stakes.
• Temporary use notices - allow the use of gambling where there is no premises licence for a temporary gambling event.
• Occasional use notices - allows betting on a track on eight days or less in a calendar year, without the need for a premises licence.
• Small society lotteries - charitable, sports/athletics/cultural or non-commercial societies. 

The Gambling Commission is responsible for issuing operating licences and personal licences, as well as for the regulation of remote gambling including gambling via the internet, phone, TV, computer etc. More information on these licences can be found on the Gambling Commission website.

Before a licence is issued, we will follow guidance provided by the Gambling Commission, our gambling policy and the three licensing objectives:

• keeping gambling crime free
• making sure that gambling is fair and open
• protecting children and vulnerable adults
