Pet Shop Licence

No person/s may keep a pet shop unless they have first obtained a licence from us.

Apply for a licence

A licence can be applied for by filling in a pet shop licence application form. It must be made to us with the inclusion of an application fee of £74.

Within the year the licence is granted, that licence will expire on the 31st December. The licence must be renewed before the expiry date if the premises is to continue as a pet shop establishment.

Before you complete your application, we advice you read the pet shop licence guidance for more information.

How long will it take to receive the licence?

You can expect to hear from us normally within 60 days.

Complaints

If there are any complaints or appeals on the licence you should contact us for advice.

We would always advise that you should complain first to the trader, preferably in the form of a letter (with proof of delivery). If that has not worked, if you are located in the UK, Consumer Direct will give you advice. From outside the UK, contact the UK European Consumer Centre.
