We are responsible for licensing taxis and private hire vehicles, including their drivers and operators. The main aim is to ensure the safety of the public, by ensuring that the drivers, vehicles and operators that they use are safe, reliable and efficient.

Application packs can be obtained from the Hackney Carriage Inspector, on (01423) 556765, and the Assistant Hackney Carriage Inspector on (01423) 556755.

Office hours for the taxi office are Monday-Friday 9.00am to 1.00pm and closed 1.00 pm - 2.00 pm (appointments only after 2.00 pm).
