Measuring Success
LATEST NEWS AND VIEWS
The Core Strategy sets out indicators and targets so that the achievement of its objectives and policies can be monitored. We collect data to measure our success against these indicators and targets and report our findings each year. The latest monitoring information was published in the Local Development Framework (LDF) Annual Monitoring Report (AMR) in December 2010.
The Sites and Policies Development Plan Document (DPD) will also include indicators and targets and we will be consulting on these as we develop planning policies.

Monitoring
|
Monitoring is essential to establish what is happening now, what may happen in the future and then compare these trends against existing policies and targets to determine whether action is required. |
The Annual Monitoring Report (AMR) is published each December and contains details of:
- The implementation of the Local Development Scheme (947KB)
- The extent to which policies in the LDF are being achieved
- The availability of a 5-year housing land supply (Section 6 of the AMR)
The AMR also reports on the national core output indicators as set out in Chapter 9 of the Core Strategy 'Measuring Success' (92KB). Monitoring systems will be developed to assess the performance of the Core Strategy policies. This will help to establish if the policies are achieving their objectives and highlight any necessary changes.
Indicators and targets will be identified for each policy in the Sites & Policies DPD to help measure how successful it is in realising its vision and objectives. Where appropriate, monitoring will be linked to the Core Strategy's overall spatial principles and will draw information from other stakeholders and feed into other monitoring documents.
Indicators will set out how the policy relates to the DPD's objectives, the agency/organisation responsible for delivering each policy and who will be involved in the collection and measuring of information in relation to the policy.
