Petitions

At Harrogate we welcome petitions and recognise that they are a vital way in which you can let us know your concerns.

The council had adopted a Petitions Scheme  (PDF, 88KB opens in a new window) which sets out how it responds to petitions and how they will be dealt with.  This is based on the model scheme introduced under the Local Democracy, Economic Development and Construction Act 2009.

In addition to these procedures we also have formal arrangements in place  for local people to submit petitions to the full council meetings in person.  These are set out in our Standing Order 26.

New online ePetitioner

We now have ePetitioner which allows people to collect signatures to their petitions online, in addition to having paper copies.  If you want to add a petition online or add your name to any live petitions please go to our e-Petitions site.

If you need any further information on submitting a petition to the council, please do not hesitate to contact the Member Services Manager, by telephone on 01423 556002 or by email to membserv@harrogate.gov.uk
