£285,000 fitness facility reopens at Ripon Leisure Centre 1st April 2010
1 April 2010
New fitness facilities have opened at Ripon Leisure Centre following a £285,000 joint investment by Harrogate Borough and Ripon City Councils.
And with 36 pieces of fitness equipment, it makes Ripon's Brimhams' fitness facility the largest in the borough council's portfolio with 209 square metres of gym space including a new free weights training facility.
In March last year, Harrogate Borough Council finalised a proposal from Ripon City Council that it take over the freehold transfer of the Ripon Leisure Centre building, previously it had run the Leisure Centre under a leasehold/management arrangement.
As part of this deal, the City Council handed over £125,000 for investment in the facility which was match-funded by the borough council.
Andy Hawkswell, Brimhams Fitness Manager, said:
"Residents of Ripon now have a state of the art fitness facility.
Ripon Leisure Centre is the first in North Yorkshire to install the state of the art Technogym Pure Strength equipment. The new gym is light and airy and provides the best environment for staying in shape.
"We look forward to welcoming more Ripon residents to the centre.
Personalised fitness programmes can be created by qualified fitness instructors to suit individual fitness goals."
