Explanatory note about termination of Harrogate Borough Council's highway agency area for Harrogate and Knaresborough.

From the 1st April 2010 North Yorkshire County Council will become directly responsible for duties and powers relating to its role as Highway Authority within the urban areas of Harrogate and Knaresborough.   The effect of these changes will be to ensure that all communities in the Harrogate Borough will receive highway and transportation services in the same way from the 1st April.  Staff from both authorities have worked closely together to endeavour to make the transfer of service seamless and with minimal impact upon service delivery to the residents and highway users in the urban areas of Harrogate and Knaresborough.

Some transport related functions will remain with Harrogate Borough Council. 

To help clarify where functions will fall from 1st April 2010 and the appropriate contact numbers, the key areas of interest are listed below:
