Consultation on proposed development at part of Spacey Houses Farm Pannal

PROPOSALS
to developthe former farmstead area of Spacey Houses Farm, Pannal near Harrogate, are to be discussed at a public meeting at Pannal Memorial Hall on Tuesday, 15 June 2010
The opportunity for a housing development at Spacey Houses Farm arose because the council agreed to allow the tenant farmer to relocate the farmstead.
The same family has farmed here for three generations and the council was keen to support the farm's future.
The original farmstead suffered numerous operational limitations, including access difficulties.
The proposal is to develop this area for residential use with a mixture of full market value
houses as well as providing homes for local people.
The public meeting is in line with the council's planning policy that requires pre-application community consultation on development of sites of 0.5 hectares and over.
The council's consultant architect will join staff from its Estates and Housing Divisions to explain the development proposals and answer questions.
They will be seeking views on how local residents would like this important site to be developed.
Access off the car park for the three existing houses will be maintained in the proposals and highway improvements to Princess Royal Way and Walton Place will be included.
The public consultation event will include a display of the plans and elevations of the proposals.
The comments received will be taken into account when preparing
the
planning application for the scheme, which the council intends to submit later this year.
At this public meeting, plans will be available to view from 2pm to 6pm.
The public consultation meeting will start at 4pm.
