Pests & Animal Nuisances

RAT
Report a rodent sighting

If you have seen a rodent, it is our job to investigate where it has come from. We have the power to make sure that people take all necessary steps to deal with rodents in and on their property.

Please contact us to report a rodent sighting. You must give in a description of where and when you sighted the rodent.
Pest control service

We provide a pest control service that will treat rodents, insects and squirrels. This is a non-profit service that is available as either a one-off or under contract to both businesses and domestic properties with a persistent pest problem.

Pest control will visit commercial and domestic properties to treat a variety of pests.

Other animal nuisances

Dead animals large mammals (larger than cats) will be removed from public land and streets.

Bird Flu: if you find more than 10 dead birds in the same place, you are encouraged to read DEFRA guidelines and contact the DEFRA helpline on 0845 9 33 55 77

Dog Fouling is a health risk. We respond from reports from the public.

Barking Dogs can cause health issues and persistent disturbances to peoples lives.

Stray dogs are collected and returned to their owner at a charge (kennelling fees).

Dangerous, exotic and wild animals - you must get a licence from us.

Note that under the Prevention of Damage by Pests Act 1949, residents have a duty to keep their own property free of pests. The council provides a Pest Control service to support the public health of the district.
