How To Make Payment Of Business Rates
Payment of Business Rates may be made in
the following ways:
Direct Debit
Direct debit is now one of the safest and most cost effective
methods of payment and if you wish to pay this way you can:
- Telephone the Council Tax Office on
(01423) 556677 with details of your bank account number and branch
sort code. You will not need to complete any forms
- Complete the instruction on the
front of your rates bill and send it to Revenue Services, PO
Box 13, Council Offices, Harrogate, HG1 2SD
- Request an
instruction
The Direct Debit Guarantee
- This guarantee
is offered by all Banks and Building Societies that take part in
the Direct Debit Scheme. The efficiency and security of the Scheme
is monitored and protected by your own Bank or Building
Society
- If the amounts
to be paid or the payment dates change, Harrogate Borough Council
will notify you 10 working days in advance of your account being
debited or as otherwise agreed
- If an error is made by Harrogate
Borough Council or your Bank or Building Society, you are
guaranteed a full and immediate refund from your branch of the
amount paid
- You can cancel a Direct Debit at any
time by writing to your Bank or Building Society. Please also send
a copy of your letter to us
Finally, if you have any questions about paying your bill by
Direct Debit call the Revenues Division on (01423) 556677
where a member of staff will be happy to talk to you and answer any
questions you may have.
Credit or Debit cards and Online Payment
Debit and credit card payments can be made 24 hours a day 7
days a week by telephoning the Council's automated local rate
telephone payment line on 0845 129 55 99. Payment can also be
made by this method at any of the Council's collection offices or
online through EasyPay.
EasyPay provides a 24 hour secure internet payments service
for all your Council bills and notices. Make an
Online Payment.
Post
Cheques and postal orders should be made payable to Harrogate
Borough Council and crossed "A/C Payee Only". It is important that
you include your name, address and the account number shown on the
front of the bill and send your payment to:

Please note: - Receipts are not normally
issued for payments sent by post unless specifically requested. If
a receipt is required you will need to send the whole bill together
with your payment.
Personal Visit
Home or Telephone Banking
If you conduct your banking business using telephone banking
rather than a High Street Bank you can instruct your bank by
telephone to pay your Business Rates. You must quote the 11 digit
account reference shown on the front of the bill and the amount to
be paid.
Payment should be made to the
Harrogate Council Collection Account quoting the Sort
Code 30-00-00 and Bank Account 00200182.
National Giro
By completing a Transcash voucher at any Post Office. Please
ensure that your name, address, account number and the amount of
the payment are quoted.
Harrogate Borough Council Giro Account Number is 600 0320, and
must be quoted when making payment. Please note that the Post
Office will charge for this service.
