How To Make Payment Of Business Rates

Payment of Business Rates may be made in the following ways:

Direct Debit

Direct debit is now one of the safest and most cost effective methods of payment and if you wish to pay this way you can:

  • Complete the instruction on the front of your rates bill and send it to Revenue Services, PO Box 13, Council Offices, Harrogate, HG1 2SD
  • Request an instruction

The Direct Debit Guarantee

  • This guarantee is offered by all Banks and Building Societies that take part in the Direct Debit Scheme. The efficiency and security of the Scheme is monitored and protected by your own Bank or Building Society
  • If the amounts to be paid or the payment dates change, Harrogate Borough Council will notify you 10 working days in advance of your account being debited or as otherwise agreed
  • If an error is made by Harrogate Borough Council or your Bank or Building Society, you are guaranteed a full and immediate refund from your branch of the amount paid
  • You can cancel a Direct Debit at any time by writing to your Bank or Building Society. Please also send a copy of your letter to us
Finally, if you have any questions about paying your bill by Direct Debit call the Revenues Division on (01423) 556677 where a member of staff will be happy to talk to you and answer any questions you may have.
