Community Centres
A highly motivated team delivers a wide range of sports, play, social and leisure activities to local communities across the District. This team is responsible for a number of Community Centres, which all provide a valuable venue for community activities.
The team also includes a Play Development Officer who is
responsible for the Council's play services across the District,
and a Leisure Development Officer for people and children with
disabilities.
Working closely with volunteers, local associations and
management committees the team provide a supportive role developing
core skills linked to management, leadership, finance and
fundraising. These groups then work closely with external agencies
such as the police, community education, home housing and local
church groups and individuals to provide opportunities for local
residents to participate in a wide range of activities from junior
clubs, lunch clubs, and bingo, through to exercise classes, karate
and yoga.
