Ripon Spa Baths

First opened in 1905 Ripon Spa Baths reflected the Edwardian belief in the two Hs: if anything was to do you any good it had to Hurt and taste Horrible! Visitors paid good money to be electrically 'shocked' in the immersion baths and cleansed by foul tasting sulphur water.

Today the elegance of this era remains in the carefully preserved Pump Room, now the foyer, which features a stained glass scene of the historic presentation of the spurs and Ripon's famous horn blower.

Today you'll find all the amenities and facilities you'd expect of a first class swimming pool. The Battenburg Health Suite offers sauna, sunbeds and massage. There is limited car parking and refreshment vending also available.

The swimming pool operates two programmes:

  • Term time - Get up and GO (267kb, PDF)
PLEASE NOTE: The pool is closed on each May Bank Holiday.
