Disc Parking
Harrogate Borough Council operates a disc
parking system in the majority of controlled parking zones
throughout Harrogate, Knaresborough, Ripon and Boroughbridge.
Any motorist may park in a disc zone for a limited period without
charge, provided that a valid clock disc set to the time of arrival
is prominently displayed in the vehicle. Clock discs are
available free of charge from all Council offices, the Tourist
Information Centre and from various business outlets
throughout the district.
The disc parking controls vary considerably between different
parking zones. The amount of time you may park with a valid
clock disc in a disc zone may vary from 5 minutes in some streets
to 3 hours in others. Details of the disc controls within any
parking zone are indicatred on a sign located adjacent to each
parking bay (kerbside).
If no times or days are indicated on the signs, the restrictions
are in place at all times including Sundays and Bank
Holidays.
In most disc zones, it is not permitted to return to the same
or nearby street on the same day. When you leave a zone at
the end of the first visit, it is deemed that you have used up the
total time allowed in that zone on that day and may therefore not
return until the following day. Return to the same zone is
strictly prohibited.
Please ensure that you check the sign adjacent to the bay for
precise verification on the parking restrictions.
