Road Safety - Speeding
- Speeding is not just inconsiderate driving
- it contributes to the 36,000 serious injuries and 3,000 deaths
that occur on Britain's roads each year
- Around two thirds of all accidents in
which people are killed or seriously injured happen on roads where
the speed limit is 40mph or less
- At 35mph you are twice as likely to kill
someone as you are at 30mph
- Seven out of 10 drivers admit to regularly
breaking the 30mph speed limit.
- An average family car travelling at 35mph
will need an extra 21 feet to stop than one travelling at
30mph.
- If you hit a cyclist or pedestrian at
35mph rather than 30mph, the force of the impact increases by more
than a third.

Slow down! Just a few miles per hour can make the difference
between life and death
If you are not someone who worries about killing or injuring
another person when you are driving,
think about your licence, your job and your liberty.
If you hit a pedestrian, you could lose all three!
