At 16+ you may be thinking about what to do with your life next. Options include continuing with your studies or embarking on a career. This page aims to help you make this difficult decision and help you decide where to go next.
There are several options open to you at 16 to help you continue your education. This section should help with some of the decisions you may need to take.
If you are aged between 16 and 19 you can study at school, or at a college providing further education. Where you choose to study can depend on what's available in your area. Your current school will advise you when looking at which is the best option for you.
From 18 onwards you can continue on to higher education at a University or college.
Choosing a higher education course
Choosing a career path can be a difficult process. Think about what really appeals to you, and identify the jobs that best match your talents and strengths.
When you have decided the area in which you'd like to work, do some research to find out how you can achieve your career goals.
You may decide to volunteer for work experience first, as this can help you get your foot in the door if you have no previous work experience.
Alternatively, you can apply for a full time job or, if you want to carry on learning as well as working, you may consider work based learning such as an apprenticeship.
