Young Entrepreneurs

Starting a new business may seem daunting if you are young and have very little commercial experience. Even if you have a brilliant idea, you may be unsure of how to write a business plan or launch a new product or service.  Raising money to fund your business may be hard if you have no track record.

There are many examples of young people running successful businesses. With the right guidance and support, you can follow in their footsteps.

This is why Business Link York and North Yorkshire has developed specialist support for young entrepreneurs in rural areas under the Bright Sparks programme.

Bright Sparks can help you

  • market your business
  • research and prepare you business plan
  • work out the best way to finance your business
  • develop strategies for pricing and selling
  • identify the most appropriate Information and Communication Technologies (ICT)
  • understand Tax and VAT implications, bookkeeping and credit control
  • help you make contact with like minded young entrepreneurs
If you are aged16 to 30 you may also be able to access financial help and support from the Prince's Trust and Shell LiveWIRE organisations.

Follow the links in the right hand panel to find out more about all of these organisations.
