The Council has appointed an Empty Property Officer who is responsible for bringing properties that have been standing empty for more than six months back into use.

Money is available to help owners to do work to properties in order to bring them back into a liveable state.

One of the conditions of accepting money from the Council is that the Landlord must agree to lease the property to a housing association for approximately eight years (depending on how much the grant is).  The property will then be used for social housing.
