Tour of the Turkish Baths - Restoration to Victorian Glory

View the recent restoration work at the Turkish Baths in Harrogate town.  See the Baths' original beauty and provide a glimpse into what a visit entailed back in the late 1800s.

Palace of Glittering Gold - Tour of the Royal Hall

Guided tour of Harrogate's recently restored Edwardian theatre.  The Hall was the major entertainment venue for the rich and famous who came to take the waters.  See more than 112,000 sheets of 23.5 carat gold leaf and many of the original features.

Portrait of a Lady

Costume presentation with history wardrobe company Century Adventures.  An enchanting insight into the creation of beauty in Georgian portraits by Reynolds and Gainsborough.  Enjoy many marvellous anecdotes about the secrets of the artists' studio and utterly sumptuous costumes.

Historic Churches of the Yorkshire Dales

Talks and tours of local churches including Bewerley Chapel at Pateley Bridge, Linton Church, Bolton Priory and Addingham Church.  Local historian Maurice Taylor will lead the tour with complementary readings from Anne Carrick.

Guided tour with staff.  Visit this 30 acre site featuring the Crematorium, Memorial Gardens and Cemetery, together with adjoining Hebrew Cemetery and War Grave Commission.

Historical Tour of Knaresborough

Scriven Treasures

Talk by Dave Hunt of Claro Community Archaeology Group.  Now in its second year, hear all about the group's 5 year project discovering the archaeology of Scriven.  See recent finds brought in by local people and find out how the project is developing.

Mini Paper Shoes - Art Workshop
 
In this enchanting workshop the Royal Pump Room Museum's recent artist in residence, Serena Partridge, will show you how to create a pair of miniature shoes using a variety of papers and tiny trims.  Describe their imaginary past on a label and ths little piece of history can be yours to keep.

Practical details:
We recommend that all sessions must be booked in advance in order to guarantee entry.  Payment for charging events is requested as soon as possible, and at least 1 month in advance, in order to guarantee a place.

Please note that all sessions (free and charging) are very popular, often with long reserve lists, so if you cannot attend please notify us straight away so someone else can enjoy the event.

Refunds will only be available if a booking is cancelled within 14 days of the event. All cancellations must be in writing to Harrogate Museums and Arts, Mercer Art Gallery, Swan Road, Harrogate, HG1 2SA.

If cancelling within the 14 day notice period, we regret that monetary refunds can only be guaranteed for payments over £10 due to the administrative costs involved. If cancelling a booking for under £10 the monies spent can be held as payment towards a future event
