Wind Energy
You can turn the wind's energy into electricity by using
domestic wind turbines. Micro turbines are
becoming more suitable for homes and businesses wishing to install
renewable technologies.
Cost to Install
1kW machine £2,500 to £5,000
(Estimated up to 1/4 household
requirement)
Grants
Renewable energy grants are available from the Government, via
the Low Carbon
Buildings Programme.
Advantages of wind energy
- Modern designs tend to be very near silent in operation
- Occupies little ground space and can co-exist with livestock or crops
- Micro turbines can be attached to the building
- Wind turbines can reduce your electricity bills
- You can sell electricity you produce to the grid at their price
- Annual emissions of CO2 will be reduced

Planning permission may be required in areas of landscape sensitivity.
