Wind Energy
You can turn the wind's energy into electricity by using
domestic wind turbines. Wind power qualifies for the national
Clean Energy Cashback Scheme.
- All the electricity that you produce can earn you money through
the
clean energy cashback scheme.
- Modern designs tend to be very near silent in operation
- Turbines occupy little ground space and can co-exist with
livestock or crops.
- Micro turbines can be attached to a building.
- You can sell electricity you produce to the grid ; 15-100kW
(wind band 3) to benefit from a 24.1p/kWh tariff
- Annual emissions of CO2 will be reduced by an
average of half a tonne of CO2 per year.
Cost to install
Roof mounted turbines usually 1kW can cost around £1,500
installed and will reduce an average annual electricity bill by up
to 1/3 or around 500kWh to 1.2 MWh per annum.
Larger systems between 1.5kW and 6kW will cost around
£4,000 to £18,000.
