A Winter's Tale prize draw

MErcy and revenge are weighed in the balance in this dark comedy of love and intolerance.
 
To help his friend win a wife, a merchant accepts an interest-free loan in exhange for a pound of his own flesh, should he fail to repay in time.
 
Shylock, with the full authority of the Venetian law behind him, sharpens his knife in court.  But is he, in fact, the villain or the victim of this trial?  You, the audience, must be the judge.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Siege the Castle!

Sunday 25th July

FREE ENTRY TO THE CASTLE 10.30am - 5pm

FREE ARTS AND CRAFT ACTIVITIES 11am - 4pm

Your chance to attack the Castle by making swords, shields and catapults and then using them in your attack!
 
Come along anytime between 11am and 4pm to make your own swords and shields. You can also help us make a model of the Castle.
 
Create your own catapult at 11:30 and 2:00
 
Siege the Castle through the sallyport with your weapons at 12:30 and 3:00

Artist in Residence 2006: A Sense of Place

The 2006 artist in residence is Andrew Cheetham.

Andrew has drawn beautiful watercolours, soft pastels and charcoals to document the Castle grounds as well as the people using the area for walking dogs, eating lunch and more.

Andrew's residency has now finished but you can view some of his pictures below and there will be an exhibition of his work from January to March 2007 at the Mercer Art Gallery.
