Open Invitation to Attend District Cultural Partnership Annual Meeting
It is two years since the Harrogate District Cultural
Partnership was set up by Harrogate Borough Council to
promote and improve the cultural life of the whole Harrogate
district.
The Partnership meets regularly throughout the year but is
marking this anniversary by holding its annual meeting at Ripley
Castle on Friday 17 June.
The Partnership has reached a crucial stage as it now
plans to set up as an independent organisation
and to develop its own links with other local, regional and
national cultural organisations.
A representative from the Wigan Cultural Partnership will be
attending the meeting to talk about their achievements since doing
this. More local cultural projects will also be
looked at, including the Royal Hall Restoration Project and the
launch of an e-newsletter, which will provide regular updates on
funding for cultural activities.
Councillor Pat Jones, Cabinet Member for Cultural
Services at Harrogate Borough Council and chair of the Partnership,
said "We are delighted to be hosting this event at one of the
district's most historic cultural
venues, where delegates will be able to enjoy
very modern facilities in a beautiful setting.
The Council recognises that culture plays a key role in the quality
of life of our district, both for residents and in attracting
visitors. This event will be an opportunity to
take stock of progress over the past two years and more importantly
to focus on strengthening the Partnership's role as it looks to
become an independent organisation."
The Partnership is always keen to welcome new members and
anyone interested in attending the annual meeting or becoming
actively involved in its work should contact Karen Weaver at
