Two Teams Join Forces on Knaresborough's Renaissance
The Knaresborough Renaissance Town Team has celebrated its
first year by the production of a Delivery
Plan*. The Plan includes a 25 year vision with a
Town Charter and a list of 23 projects identified for further
work. This plan has been developed following
consultation with residents and a community conference held for all
interested parties in March this year.
An Arts Strategy; a youth facility in the Town Centre;
improvements to the High Street and the Frazer Theatre surrounds
are projects currently being worked on.
For its first year the Knaresborough Renaissance Town Team has
run in parallel with the Knaresborough Regeneration
Partnership. At recent meetings both the
Knaresborough Town Council and the Knaresborough Regeneration
Partnership gave the go ahead in principle for a merger of the Team
and the Partnership. The merger will allow
Harrogate Borough Council, with funding assistance from Yorkshire
Forward, to give administrative support to the new
organisation
Councillor Bill Hoult, Chair of the Renaissance Town Team
explains: "It makes sense to join forces,
bearing in mind that many members of the Regeneration Partnership
are already members of the Town Team. What we
must not lose is the energy and commitment of the Town Team members
who are actively working towards firming up the various projects
that have been identified."
As promised at the last Community Conference in March, a joint
event has been arranged for the morning of the 16 July 2005 and
invitations will be sent out shortly to all who attended last

The conference will be asked to give guidance on the how the
new joint team will operate.
