Bee Pest Treatment

Treatment

Bees are a protected species and are not regarded as a pest. If you call to request the removal of bees that you are finding a nuisance we will attempt to put you in touch with a local registered beekeeper, who will collect and take away the bees.

We will only treat bees if:

  • Beekeepers cannot reach the nest
  • Beekeepers cannot attend within a reasonable time

The Harrogate and Ripon Beekeepers Association may have additional useful information.

Treatment Hours
Treatments are normally carried out during weekday office hours. However, during the peak summer season, longer hours and weekend working is often undertaken.
Appointment

The Pest Control Officer will advise of your options. You will need to give an exact location for the bees. A key holder need not be present unless inside a building or restricted access to the property.

Charge

The current charge for a complete treatment is £59.93 incl VAT for domestic properties (free if on income support or registered disabled). Phone 0845 300 6091 to arrange a pest control visit or to set up a new pest control contract.

Retreatments
Sometimes treatments need reapplication to fully eradicate a pest. Sometimes, new pests take over the space once occupied by an eradicated pest. Pest Control Officers will decide whether the return of a pest is the same pest requiring a retreatment (which is free), or a new pest infestation requiring a new treatment (which will require payment).
