Valley Gardens Allotment
until November,
between the cafe and playground

As part of the 50th anniversary celebrations of the Allotment Show, the Harrogate and District Allotment Federation and Harrogate Borough Council have created an allotment as an educational area to build on the increasing interest in growing your own vegetables.

The allotment will show the differences over the last 50 years in techniques, growing styles and crops grown with one side planted 1960s style and the other as a 2010 allotment. The project will run until November so the vegetables will crop during the summer season and will be ornamental too. All the produce will be used at the Women's Refuge.

Each allotment site in the Harrogate district has played their part in planting, watering and weeding the area and the project has been coordinated by the Federation's secretary, Clive Pickles, with support from the Valley Gardens' team. It's proving very popular so come and take a look.
