If you are an aspiring sporting star or artiste of the future, up to 18 years old and live within the Harrogate district  we invite you to apply for a Centenary Grant.  It will next open in January 2011.

This project was set up to celebrate the Council's centenary in 1984 and since then over 500 talented young people have benefited from the fund.

The Council is seeking nominations from sporting or artistic young people who resident in the Harrogate district and compete at a regional level. Many of those who have received grants have gone on to national level.

Last year 35 talented individuals received grants totalling £3,500, the youngest recipients being three 11 year olds.  The disciplines ranged from singing and piano to tennis and dinghy racing.  All eligible young residents are urged to make an application.

If you would like to go on the waiting list please call Leilah Vyner, Project Development Officer, Department of Community Services on 01423 556702.
