24 JULY 2006 -Two of the district's most
prestigious and attractive buildings have recently been approved
for the holding of civil marriages and other civil
ceremonies.
Knaresborough House and Ripon Town Hall, both owned and run by
Harrogate Borough Council, have recently been granted approval to
be used as venues for civil marriages, civil partnerships,
affirmation of vows and baby naming ceremonies.
Councillor Mike Gardner, Leader of Harrogate Borough Council,
hopes that many residents will want to take advantage of this extra
venue for their ceremonies. He
said: "The Sun Pavilion in Harrogate has proved
a popular venue and we can see that many local residents will value
having more of the district's prestigious buildings available to
them for these celebratory events. The gardens
behind Knaresborough House are meticulously maintained and will
make a wonderful back drop for photographs.
Ripon Town Hall is a majestic building dominating this ancient
market square and its sheer scale and history will also make a
marvellous memorable venue."
The following rooms have been licensed:
Knaresborough House
Assembly Hall (capacity approx 80)
Committee Room (capacity approx 40)
