The Friends of Pateley Bridge Cemetery & St Mary's Churchyard were established in 2004. The group works tirelessly to improve the grounds and has been involved in a number of projects over the last two years such as clearing undergrowth and lifting trees from the churchyard, sweeping leaves, developing a noticeboard, recording all the inscriptions on the monuments in a booklet for the museum, instigating the re-instatement of monuments/memorials, painting and repair work and wildlife initiatives such as bat boxes.
The Friends also arrange escorted tours around the church ruins and tower as part of the Heritage Open Days series of events.
