11 JANUARY 2007 A proposal to allow a
farmer to relocate his farmstead at Spacey Houses Farm,
Pannal, which is rented from Harrogate Borough Council, was last
night endorsed by the council's Cabinet Members.
The existing farmstead at the junction of Princess Royal Way
and Walton Place has numerous operational limitations, access
difficulties and continuous environmental health complaints from
the adjacent residential users.
As part of the package, the tenants will surrender a part of
their tenancy which will enable the council to dispose of some of
the land for residential use. The tenants of the
farm will then build a new house and farm buildings with access
being gained by an existing track.
Council Leader, Mike Gardner, is pleased that the council can
help this farmer's future. He said: "The farm is
currently run by a father and son. They are keen
to continue to run the farm and we are happy to help support their
proposals to modernise. This farm is situated at
an important and pretty access to Harrogate
town. These works will see a great improvement
to that as well as providing much needed housing in the
locality." ENDS
