Gymnastics
Welcome to Harrogate Borough Council's Gymnastics Development programme which provides coaching opportunities at five distinct levels:
- Agility and Mini Gym
- Bronze
- Silver
- Gold
- Platinum
Agility Classes for 2 - 4 Years
Here's an opportunity for carers to be involved with their child in the class. Through physical movement and use of colour and texture, children develop a broad range of experience to stimulate and encourage exploration within their environment. The classes promote balance, co-ordination and confidence with children working towards Badges 1 and 2 of the Mini Gymnastics Awards.
This level introduces further movements and apparatus in readiness for progression to Bronze Level.
Staff ratios at these levels are one coach to eight children, plus carers where appropriate. Classes are 45 minutes in duration.
Bronze Level
Aimed at children aged 5 to 7 years. Mini Gymnastics Badges 2 and 3 can be completed at this level, along with B.G.A. (British Gymnastics Association) Proficiency Badges 7 and 6.
Silver Level
Children aged 7 to 9 years work through B.G.A. Proficiency Awards 5 and 4.
Gold Level
This is an advanced level for those children who have attained all previous awards. Badges 3 and 2 are achieved here.
Platinum Level
An ability based programme through invitation only. Gymnasts also have an opportunity to develop leadership and coaching skills through our coach education programme.
