Club & Coach Development

What is Club and Coach Development?

The Sports Development Team aims to assist local sports clubs to improve their capacity to deliver safe, equitable and quality sporting opportunities across the Harrogate District.

We can offer local clubs and groups:
  • Reliable advice
  • Guidance and support with club accreditation
  • Sport development planning, policies and procedures
  • Coach and volunteer education
  • School to club links and funding advice

The development of local coaches is a priority area of work for the Sports Development Team. If you are a local sports coach or leader interested in employment or voluntary opportunities you can:

  • Register your interest with the Sports Development Team
  • Find information about leadership, sports specific and generic training courses
  • Apply to become a volunteer
  • Find out about job opportunities

Sports clubs enable you to take part in sport as a player, participant, coach or volunteer. Whether you want to try a new sport for the first time, join a team or develop your skills as a player, volunteer or coach, sports clubs provide the facility and support.

How we can help?

Harrogate Borough Council are keen to develop clubs within the district, by helping them to achieve their potential and to provide a quality, safe and enjoyable environment for all their members. We can advise on issues such as child protection, club development, volunteers, marketing, Club Mark accreditation, constitutions, risk assessments and funding sources.
