Harrogate District Sports Council (HDSC)
HDSC is a voluntary development forum that has plenty to offer and we are actively looking to increase our support to sports clubs and other physical activity groups.
Collective voice for sport
We act as a 'collective voice' for sport in the area thereby increasing the impact of local initiatives.
Advice on funding
We can advise on potential sources of funding for any size of project. One of our future aims is to apply as an organisation for funds that we can allocate locally.
Advice on Club accreditation
National Governing Bodies want clubs to become accredited. Accreditation leads to safe and well-run clubs but also brings increased opportunities for funding and potential for becoming a venue to hold tournaments and coaching courses. HDSC can help.
Club and coach education
HDSC works closely with Harrogate Borough Council and jointly this is an area where we can provide information and advice.
Information
We are developing a list of email contacts for leagues and clubs so that we can send out a wide range of national and local information in a timely way. Where there is no email contact we can send hard copies on request.
Annual Awards (see below for further information and application forms)
We hold an Annual Awards Dinner to celebrate achievement and service to sport in ten categories. Nominations from individuals and clubs are actively encouraged as is attendance at the event.

We aim to respond promptly to all requests and suggestions. These may relate to something HDSC could usefully do for all clubs or for individual clubs.

Please find attached the details of the 2009 Harrogate District Sports Council Sports Awards. The sports awards are a fantastic opportunity to recognise and reward the incredible variety of Sports teams and people we have within our district, and in a small way start to say thank you to some of those people whose commitment and passion make our district such a better place. Last year with your help we were able to make sure that as many people as possible whose efforts deserved recognition, received it; and this year with your support we can do the same again.
There are various categories of awards and attached is an information sheet detailing the eligibility criteria for each award. The application form is attached and a form would need to be completed and submitted for each or any nomination you wish to make. The deadline for nominations is 31 July 2009.
The process for returning your nominations is detailed at the bottom of the application form. The awards will be presented at the Sports Council Dinner on 8th October 2009, and this is by no means an exclusive event so if you would like to attend please let the Sports Development Team know and we can provide further details.
