3 APRIL 2007: THE
competition may not be quite as intensive or as competitive
as the National in Bloom Awards, but Harrogate Council's housing
tenants are being asked to take part in a gardening competition
which will demonstrate some of the district's hidden horticultural
and floral delights.
Staff in the council's housing division are hosting this
competition, which will see 12 individual winners and one overall
winner. The prize-winning entries will be
featured in the 2008 housing calendar, which will be a useful
source of important dates and other information for council
tenants.
Amy Jones, the council's Tenant Involvement Officer, is
leading the competition. She
said: "Many of our tenants work very hard in
their gardens bringing pleasure to many but they very rarely get
recognised for their efforts. This annual
competition is their chance and thanks to some very supportive and
generous local businesses, we have plenty to reward them
with."
It is easy to enter, just take a photo of your garden,
container or even plant you are particularly proud of and send it
in along with your name, address and telephone number to the
Tenancy Services Team, 13/5 Kennion Road, Harrogate HG2
7QY. For those who don't have a camera, please
call 01423 551619 and a member of staff will come out to take a
photo. The closing date is 29 June
2007. ENDS
