Welcome to this introduction on the Greater Ripon
Improvement Partnership (formerly known as Ripon City
Partnership).
What is the Greater Ripon Improvement Partnership
(GRIP)?
Ripon City Partnership was formed in 1997 as a central
driving force to lead the regeneration of Ripon and to bring
together the large number of community groups and voluntary
organisations already active in the City's everyday life and
development. However, it became widely recognised that Ripon alone
cannot rescue Ripon; it needs a hinterland and a larger one than
historically. The Greater Ripon Improvement Partnership was
therefore borne in 2010 to 'Drive and Deliver Ripon's
Development".
The GRIP is a genuine public/private sector partnership
with a mission to:
- improve Ripon by growing its
economy
- grow its economy by supporting its
businesses
- support its businesses by promoting its products
- promote its products by marketing
to residents, businesses and
visitors
The GRIP Business Plan 2010-2014 outlines six broad areas it
wishes to tackle over the coming year rescuing the retail sector,
protecting non-retail businesses, increasing tourism, developing
infrastructure, enhancing the community, and working with bigger
firms and the wider economy.
