Birk Crag

Located approximately one mile to the southwest of Harrogate, this site is comprised of approximately 27 acres of mixed evergreen and deciduous woodland.

Access to the site can be made off Crag Lane, approximately 0.5 miles past the entrance to the RHS Harlow Carr site, via the Public Right of Way (PROW) off Cornwall Road or via the PROW off Penny Pot Lane.

There are no facilities on site but a series of desire lines and designated footpaths allows for walkers to meander through the woodland at their leisure.

The site drops steeply from south to north, with an overall fall of approximately 20-50 metres between the southern and northern boundary. The wood is characteristically wet at its lowest points during many of the winter months.

The site offers magnificent views to the north and east due to its elevation at its southerly point.

Some footpaths are steep and stout footwear is recommended for anybody wanting to take advantage of the woodland walk.
